Exclusive Interview with the man behind Cool Ass

Cool Ass was created by Marc Marut, with a sound that’s reminiscent of 90’s alternative. Combining a hard hitting, toe tapping, energetic rock style with other influences, Cool Ass music gets people moving as
much as the lyrics get them laughing. Not only is Marc a musician/songwriter, he is also an accomplished actor. He has starred in feature films such as “The Paperboy (1994)”, as well as many TV shows such as “Goosebumps” and “Road To Avonlea”. Marc does all the composing, recording, and audio engineering himself.

We decided to do an exclusive interview with Marc Marut creator of ‘Cool Ass’..

What inspired you to get into music?
Ever since I was a kid I’ve had music in my soul, and I’d always hear tunes in my head that just came out of nowhere. Eventually I realised I need to get it out of me, and share it with the world.

How would you describe your music?
It’s very reminiscent of 90’s alternative. My music combines hard hitting, toe tapping, energetic rock with other influences. My songs get people moving as much as the lyrics get them laughing.

What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
I just let things flow naturally. The tunes pop into my head, and then the lyrics always write themselves. When it comes to recording, I don’t give myself deadlines. I work on a song until I’m happy with it. I want to be able to listen to my work ten years from now, and still be proud.

Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
Honestly, I’m so focused on the present I haven’t thought that far into the future. My definite goals are to keep making great music and awesome videos, and to keep putting smiles on people’s faces.

Where can music fans listen your music?
They can visit my website at coolass.tv or look up Cool Ass on Spotify or YouTube. My songs are available on iTunes and Amazon, and all the other major music platforms.
