Art Schop releases new single “In the Street” from the album Starguide

Art Schop is the alter-ego of writer, philosopher, and technologist, Martin G Walker. Finding the subject matter of his singer-songwriter material limiting, Walker created Art Schop as an unbounded voice for exploring subjects with greater philosophical, historical, and psychological depth. The name is derived from Walker’s favorite philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer.

Art Schop’s  take on ‘In the Street’ is more melodic and  even has something of an orchestrated quality, but it bubbles with a modern sheen with a quality that is second to none.

She combines traditional sounds with the electronic music in dramatic, ear-catching ways. The production style brings the song’s synths and keyboards into total sympathy with the piano playing opening the song and likewise threading its way through the track. It doesn’t seem like it would be that sort of a song, but track establishes a light groove early before the first changes come.

There are infludences of Scott Walker, James Blake, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Sufjan Stevens, Pink Floyd, Roy Harper, 4AD, Leonard Cohen. “In the Street” is certainly a hit and a track to listen to as part of your music art collection.
