Newborn 90s is a 90s eurodance project from the UK. The group consists of Freya (vocalist), Mambo (rapper) and Jack (producer). The mission is simple for Newborn 90s, they aim to revive 90s eurodance scene and reach out to the huge audience who still love this style today. It all started in 2019 when producer Jack had a vision to make new music in 90s eurodance style. He reached out to Freya and Mambo and the group was born. With their new single ‘I feel Alive’ out now. We decided to catch up with them for an exclusive interview on Camden Monthly.
What inspired you to get into music?
We all grew up partying in the 90s dancing and listening to all the hit songs. It was singers, songwriters and performers in the 90s who inspired us to start our own musical journey.
How would you describe your music?
It’s the original 90s eurodance style with vocals and rap
What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
We prefer quality over quantity. We have been working over the internet due to distances between our homes and other personal commitments. The process of making the first 2 songs has started with Jack making the beats and melodies then sending the track to Freya who would come up with her lyrics and vocal ideas. They would revise the vocal and lyrics as many times as needed and finalise it. Then Jack would send the track with Freya’s vocal included to Mambo and repeat the same process with him. Jack would embed the rap into the song, make the final tweaks and do the overall mixing and master. This process has worked pretty well so far but we hope that we will be able to meet and work together in person as well in the near future.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
Most importantly, we would hope to have many supporting fans because fans are very important people. We would like to be touring and doing gigs in clubs and festivals all over the world, performing on big stages with our 90s eurodance heroes such as 2 Unlimited, 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor, Masterboy, Cappella and many others.
