Interview with Chris Punk about music, production and inspiration

Over the years, Chris has been producing music for a myriad of other artists and has done work for most of the big labels around the world, yet he finally came to a big decision: “It’s time to start releasing songs with my own name on the cover.” This is his first release as an independent artist/producer, with many more interesting features, collaborations and releases coming up. The song “Crazy” is a new style of music, a mix between RnB & House and a touch of early 90’s Electro. This radio version will shortly be followed up with remixes in various genres for the dance floor. Work is already being done by great DJs and genre-specialized remixers as we speak!

We managed to caught up with Chris for an exclusive interview with Camden Monthly..

What inspired you to get into music?
My grandma had an old organ and when I was 3-4 yrs old I was listening to songs in kids movies and ran to the organ trying to find the notes and play the melodies. Later on when I was 14-15 I just loved synthesizers and music based on synths and drum machines. It was a lot of English bands like Depeche Mode, Yazoo who got me into buying a synth and start do create music.

How would you describe your music?
My music is very often melancholic, bass driven and melodic. I have been producing all kind of genres and styles but last couple of years it has been more and more house influenced.

What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
I’m very picky and keen on details. I never accept anything that could be done better. But perfection can of course never replace the right feeling and the nerve. A singer with the right nerve and a beautiful tone doesn’t have to hit the notes perfectly. Music is art, and art is all about taste. Therefor nothing is right or wrong and the only thing I can demand from myself and the people I’m working with is that we have done the best we can do.

Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
Continue to work full time with music. And to be able to do that I’ll need a lot of people like and stream the music I’ll put out there 🙂 I will do my best to create good tracks and songs. Keep up a high standard. This first single is starting to get some rotation on radio now around the world so I can only cross my fingers.

Where can music fans listen your music?
I’ve been producing many other artists in the past but this is the first single with my own name on the cover so I’ll need to build up my own fan base. This first single is available on Spotify and almost all digital music platforms. A lot of remixes in variuos house genres, done by great DJ’s all around the world will also soon be released. You will get them as soon as they are released by following me on Spotify.
