The amazing artist better known to most as Van Hechter is a visionary who we have been featuring for a while now. So, when Van decided to look back literally with the launch of his new single ‘Looking Back’. Looking Back is a catchy, upbeat song that will definitely get stuck in your head. The lyrics are simple but effective, and the chorus is particularly memorable. Van Heldher’s ‘Looking Back’ is a great song from his newest album. Van Hechter’s voice is the perfect mix of old and new. His voice reminds me of the kind singers from our parent’s generation, yet there are new influences in his music that will appeal to people who grew up listening to today’s music.
As the song is experiencing a revival on Spotify, we decided to do a catch-up interview for those who are yet to discover Van’s amazing songs.
What inspired you to get into music?
I shiver from listening to music I love. Nothing else provides as much joy (and pain hahahaha)… I know I wanted to be in music by the time I was 3! If one day I end up getting a ”normal” job I’ll find happiness- but the intensity I experience here right now will never be replaced.
How would you describe your music?
I just write what’s in my heart and head then hope for the best…
What would you say is your recording and songwriting style?
Tinsel and comedy on the surface, a certain amount of depth if you think twice- but never in a complacent way. I never take myself seriously even when I play it like I do.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
Either as a restaurant host or still doing exactly what I’m doing now… It’ll depend on how my 2 next albums do, hahahah!
